steps of production

The steps of production
1.     The preproduction
The first step in production is looking for inspiration using books, newspapers; they then pitch the idea to each other and talk to the producer about the film ideas, look at finances to see the cost.
2.     Development Finance
Next you present the pitch, then approach the film production and apply for a grant either public or private.
3.     Script Development
This is the production part, you need to produce a synopsis, write a draft to send to the finances and do the final draft.
4.     The next step is to look for actors to fit the specific roles for the film and then you need to find the actual cost of the film to see if it is affordable.
5.     Travel to look for investments on the film, you need to draw up contracts for the film so that all the deals are sealed and you need to make sure that all of the findings are done.
6.     Make sure all actors have been found and that the full cast have been hired, detailed preparation for the shots have been done.
7.     The next step you need to make sure that everything is kept to schedule with acting, camera, lighting, sound and effects are done so that you don’t run out of time and rush the making.
8.     Post Production
By this stage you need a rough cut of the film has to be done, you need to begin looking at the sounds, effects, titles, then final cut is done.
9.     You need to then sell the product, make and release and trailer and if there is enough money in the budget to then do a high profile screening.
1.  You then need to do a press and media coverage and you need to advertise to selling the film to cinemas.
     Distribution
This is the final step where you release a premier date and then finally release the actual film. One of the main parts of this step is all of the advertising for the movie. There are billboards put up, posters, trailers firstly there will be teasers and then the actual adverts. There will a lot of information to find out about the movie on twitter pages and Facebook pages which will advertise the movie. There will be a official website which belongs to the company and on this website there will be merchandise such as t-shirts, soundtracks and toys on sale. The film will also have the main characters on talk shows and on the radio to make sure everyone in the public has heard of the movie. There also may be tie-ins for example a character from the film may be on an already important product i.e.. coke.

making our swede

Here is just a little clip of when we were making our swede, we had to film different scenes more than once in order to make them most effective.

planning and ideas

Planning for our swede
In order to think of our idea for our swede we did a lot of research of all the different swedes and what ones we thought looked good and what ideas we thought did not work.

We thought of many different ideas and made a spider diagram of all the different ideas we had:

                                                                    Toy Story                                                       Jurassic  Park
Legally Blonde
                      Ideas of Swedes
                                                                   Harry Potter
                           Hairspray

High school musical

Props and Ideas
We then figured out that the idea we liked the most was High School Musical as we could not already find a swede of it so we thought it would be very interesting to try out. We looked at different clips of part of the film to figure out what scenes
we most liked to include in our swede.
.
We found this clip which we liked of them throwing  there books in the air as its summer and of the clock ticking, we though this clip would be good to use as part of our swede of the film as it a memorable part of the film so if we used this in our movie it would then give the audience a clear idea of what film we are doing our swede on.

After watching this scene we then decided on an idea of our swede that we was going to have as our beginning shot of a few people in a class in a lesson with the build up of the clock going to 3 when school ends and once it goes off to have everyone throw there books in the air and run out. We could easily set the scene for this shot as we could film this scene at school in a classroom.

We then as a group found this clip and we thought this was also a memorable scene for High school muscial, we have a sports hall in school with basketballs we could borrow so this scene we decided to set it in the gym with lots of space to film the scene.

Props
Props which we will need in our swede include are:

  • A classroom
  • books for writing in class and throwing in the air
  • A clock
  • a sports hall
  • basketballs
  • a shooting net
